Determining the will and estate sale of a deceased loved one can be an extremely difficult process during for the family and friends.
Probate is defined as the court-supervising process of collecting the deceased’s belongings and deciding creditors and inheritors of the will.
Oklahoma has adopted the Uniform Probate Code (UFC), in which probate can happen informally and not in the courtroom. With the Uniform Probate Code, inheritors and creditors that have a valid claim are likely to be paid in this order:
- Estate administration costs
- Family allowances
- Funeral expenses
- Taxes and debt
- All remaining claims
